Unit-Specific Training

Part of our success over 26 years has been that we hire the best possible retired controllers, supervisors, and refinery superintendents then spend the time to train these highly knowledgeable individuals how to write, organize information, and train others. The second equally important part of our success is our neurological-based training systems that focus on long-term memory retention. Major companies that have tested their 1-5 year operators and 5-10 year operators find that those employees know a whole lot less than they thought they did. Managers often believe that because operators have passed the final test and often a panel of supervisors to become an operator that they are well-trained on their units. But, when they are tested a year or few years later they find that they do not remember what they were taught. The reason is that most training programs teach in a way that inadvertently stores information in short-term memory rather than long-term memory. Traditional training methods have only a 3-4 percent retention rate. This is particularly alarming when most incidents have a training or procedure component or both. EcoScience uses the most advanced training techniques from the fields of neurology and organizational psychology to incorporate the very latest science of how people learn and how memories are formed including the very important differences between short-term and long-term memory formation. The advancements in these fields are staggering. The amount of information that we can teach even the newest, most inexperienced employee and the retention level is far beyond what we or our clients previously thought was possible.
